About Miss Therres
Miss Maria Therres is an SJB Class of 1987 alum. She treasures her time at St. John's, both as a student and now a teacher. She started teaching Second Grade at St. John's in 1998 and is now starting her 22nd year teaching. She is a lifelong citizen of Vermillion Township and her family is a founding member of St. John the Baptist Church. Her family farm, Meadowbrook Farm, celebrated its Sesquicentennial in 2017. She currently is on the board of trustees for the Dakota County Historical Society and writes articles for the monthly DCHS eNewsletters.
Miss Therres is a graduate of HHS in Hastings. She received her teaching degree in Early Childhood Education from UW-Stout in Menomonie, WI. She earned her Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary's University in Winona. Her favorite subject area is Social Studies, especially American History. She was named the Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2014. She is the SJB coordinator of Junior Achievement and Picturing America.

Interests
*Miss Therres has played the piano since she was in Second Grade. She continues to play for enjoyment and also teaches piano lessons.
*Miss Therres enjoys watching baseball at all levels, especially her Godson and his brothers.
*For the past three years she has been a fan of Wheelchair Basketball, which her Godson plays.
*Miss Therres is a lifelong traveler. She has traveled around the United States (thirty-nine states) and to nineteen countries. She loves to spend time with family and friends, especially her Godchildren, as well as visiting historical sites. This week she enjoyed a week at beautiful Highland Lake in Bridgton, Maine and then road tripped home, stopping to see the Statue of Liberty, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and Washington, DC>
